Past
(Church history)
The Rational Restoration began ages ago as God inspired people in every culture and corner of the world to seek and then share light and knowledge. Then, in the early 1800s, God prepared a particular young man to usher in the Restoration. The man, Joseph Smith, Jr., translated an ancient record, published as the Book of Mormon, which testified of the divinity of Jesus Christ as taught by the Holy Bible. Other inspired people, men and women, joined the movement. A Church was established. Additional divine revelation restored truths of doctrine and organization and purpose.
Today, the ongoing Restoration spreads throughout the world with a bright future.
Because God brought about the Restoration through ordinary human beings, the historical record can be confusing and contradictory. The Rational Restoration seeks to explain historical events in a realistic and faith-affirming way.
Restoration of prophets
God inspires His children in a variety of ways, both directly and indirectly. He has chosen certain individuals as special witnesses and teachers, called prophets. He prepared Joseph Smith, Jr., from a young age to serve as the first prophet of the Restoration.
Restoration of ancient records
The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ that supports and corroborates the divine authenticity of the Bible, as well as God's involvement with the lives of His children everywhere in the world.
